The Savior has commanded the Church and its members to be self-reliant and independent. This month's Random Sampler aided in helping us become self-reliant with our daughters and grand-daughters hair cuts, hair styles, and hair bows. Learning to cut and style your family members' hair and make hair accessories, can not only develop new talents, but save $$$. These hair bows can also make great gifts.

We had Cheryl, a hair stylist in our ward, who works at Salon Eclipse on the West Side, come and teach us how to do a basic and layered hair cut for girls. She also demonstrated french braids and cutting bangs (to the side and at the front). We had two girls from the ward for our lovely assistants. After Cheryl was done, we had a demonstatration for making your own hair bows. Here's a sample of some that I've made at home.
The following pictures are some of the bows and flowers displayed on the beautiful models, my three darling daughters.
On a side note: If you were wondering what she is making in the next picture, I have a little cooking class with my daughters (individually) where they pick a recipe, we buy the ingredients, and then we have a little "class" together where we make the recipe. My oldest had picked out "Home-Made Corn Dogs". We had a fun time making them, unfortunately, we weren't a fan of the end product. Notice the pretty pink flower clips!

Here are two great internet sites for hair styles and bow making for girls.

Very pretty! I can't wait to try and cut Naomi's hair again (now that I kind of know what I'm doing!)
